About Me

Amandeep Bhalla, M.D. is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who specializes in treatment of the neck, back and spinal column.  He serves as the Medical Director, Spinal Surgery at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center.

Dr. Bhalla’s offers patients compassionate and comprehensive spine care.  His clinical interests include degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, adult deformity surgery, and traumatic injuries.  Dr. Bhalla also appreciates the privilege of caring for patients with primary and metastatic tumors involving the spinal column.  When applicable he incorporates the use of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques, motion-preserving technologies, and outpatient surgery. 

Dr. Bhalla believes in evidence-based, patient-centered care.  He enjoys spending time educating patients regarding their conditions, as well as non-operative treatment options.

After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, he received his medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  He completed the Harvard Combined Spine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Bhalla practices in Long Beach with the Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group.  He is on the teaching faculty at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He serves as Director of Spine Trauma with the department of orthopaedic surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in addition to his role as Medical Director, Spinal Surgery at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center.  He is an active member of the North American Spine Society (NASS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).  Recently, he was recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a recipient of the 2021 Top Doctor’s honor award.

Dr. Bhalla serves as a peer reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and for The Spine Journal as part of his ongoing commitment to improving patient care and scientific research.

In his free time he enjoys yoga, skiing, and travel.
