The Research Program at MemorialCare brings cutting-edge research to the community through three adult hospitals, one full-service pediatric hospital, and primary and outpatient settings throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. At MemorialCare, research is woven throughout national consortiums and centers of excellence through clinical trials and novel investigations to improve population health – effectively safeguarding the community by improving outcomes, while lowering costs for patients.

In addition, MemorialCare is committed to leading the next generation of providers, the MemorialCare Long Beach Campus is the second largest medical campus in the West, with two full-service teaching hospitals featuring strong academic affiliations, a comprehensive nursing research program, and robust residency and fellowship programs. The legacy of MemorialCare research began in the late 1950s with cardiac stress testing and cancer studies and has grown to touch more than 20 different adult and 4 pediatric specialties across the health system. In 2020, the program made major headway in the COVID-19 efforts activating emergency protocols early on and ensuring equitable treatment opportunities for all.

Philanthropic Support

Much of the research performed at MemorialCare is made possible by grants from the foundations at Long Beach Medical Center, Miller Children's & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, Saddleback Medical Center, and Orange Coast Medical Center. We welcome philanthropic gifts that will help to further our efforts.

As with any research, finding solutions to today's concerns takes time. MemorialCare is committed to a sustained investment in clinically useful research so we can continue to improve the quality of life of our communities. Research is important work for today and for all our futures.
