The MemorialCare Orthopedic & Spine Institute was the first in South Los Angeles County to offer the ROSA® Shoulder System—the first robotic-assisted platform designed specifically for shoulder replacement surgery. The technology supports personalized surgical planning and real-time intraoperative guidance, helping surgeons optimize implant placement and procedural accuracy.

The technology helps surgeons address one of the most complex aspects of shoulder replacement: Every patient’s anatomy is different. Shoulder replacement can be especially complex for patients with bone loss, deformity or changes in the glenoid, or shoulder socket. Even small variations in implant positioning can affect shoulder stability, mobility and long-term function, making accurate planning and execution critical.

Using a patient’s CT scan, ROSA creates a three-dimensional model of the shoulder that helps surgeons plan around the patient’s anatomy before surgery. During the procedure, advanced navigation and digital tools provide real-time information to help the surgeon validate the plan and make precise adjustments as needed.

Designed for both anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, the ROSA Shoulder System supports preparation of both sides of the shoulder joint through robotically assisted glenoid reaming and humeral resection. The surgeon remains in control throughout the procedure, using the system’s planning, navigation and robotic-assisted tools to support consistent execution.

This approach adds another layer of information beyond traditional techniques by connecting preoperative planning with intraoperative feedback. For patients, that means their procedure can be guided by detailed imaging and real-time data specific to their shoulder.

ROSA® Shoulder System Supports:

  • CT-based 3D surgical planning
  • Real-time guidance during surgery
  • Robotically assisted joint preparation
  • Anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement procedures
