About Me

Dr. Ian Dworkin is a double board-certified physician who specializes in interventional pain management, electrodiagnostic medicine, and musculoskeletal medicine of the spine and joints.  He works with the NewportCare Medical Group, with office locations in Newport Beach, Long Beach, and Riverside.

Dr. Dworkin received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and his residency in physician medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at UCLA / VA of Greater Los Angeles where he served as chief resident in his final year.  He then completed a fellowship in pain medicine, also at UCLA.  Dr. Dworkin is board-certified in both PM&R and pain medicine.

As an interventional pain management physiatrist, Dr. Dworkin believes in a comprehensive, evidence-based, holistic approach to pain management, tailored not only to each patient’s unique physical symptoms but to their emotional and psychological components to pain as well. He specializes in treating a variety of painful spinal disorders such as degenerative disk disease, spinal stenosis, and radiculopathy, as well as various musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis of the knees, hips, and shoulders. In doing so, he utilizes a variety of minimally-invasive interventional pain techniques such as epidural injections, radiofrequency ablation, peripheral nerve and spinal cord stimulation, and regenerative medicine. He also seeks to improve diagnostic accuracy with the use of ultrasound-guidance and electrodiagnostics.

He is also involved in various research projects, largely focused on regenerative medicine. Through his research, he has been published in multiple peer-review publications and has spoken at national conferences on regenerative medicine and various other interventional pain topics.
