Daniel J Gittings, MD

Dr. Gittings is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery. He specializes in comprehensive fingertip-to-shoulder musculoskeletal care and is experienced in treating trauma to both the upper and lower extremities. He cares for adult and pediatric patients with degenerative, traumatic, and congenital conditions affecting peripheral nerves and brachial plexus, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, bones, and joints.

Dr. Gittings graduated from Providence College summa cum laude with a double major in biology and chemistry. During medical school at Boston University, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated cum laude. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Gittings excelled in providing high-quality patient care and was selected by Penn’s world-renowned faculty to serve as

a chief resident, the leader of his orthopaedic surgery residency. During his time at Penn, Dr. Gittings also served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Pennsylvania Orthopedic Journal. Additionally, he was awarded multiple grants and a post-doctoral fellowship while becoming an expert in tendon injury and healing.

After becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Gittings also gained greater expertise in upper-extremity surgery. During his hand and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Southern California, Dr. Gittings refined his techniques while working with international experts in orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery, and neurosurgery.

Dr. Gittings is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored dozens of scientific papers and has presented his research at both national and international meetings.
