About Me

Abraham Rayhaun, M.D., board-certified neurosurgeon at the Spine Center at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and a fellow of American College of Surgeons. His training has been extensive and thorough, commencing his undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis. He received his medical degree with distinction (Alfa-Omega-Alfa Medical Honor Society) from Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons in in 1990 where he was awarded a full scholarship. 

After his general surgery internship, he completed his neurosurgical residency under chairmanship of Drs. James Ausman and Mark Rosenblum at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan, with particular emphasis on cerebrovascular disorders, brain tumors and stereotactic procedures. Following his chief residency year, Dr. Rayhaun completed additional specialty training in the management of complex disorders of the spine and vertebral reconstructive surgery under directorship of Dr. Russ Nockels and Dr. Leslie Sebring. He started his practice of Neurosurgery in 1996 and received his board-certification in Neurological Surgery in 2001.

Dr. Rayhaun has served as director of neurosurgery at Fountain Valley Hospital and was the chairman of department of Neurosurgery at Long Beach Medical Center, he is currently the chief of neurosurgery. He also has been elected among America’s top physicians every year since 2004.

He is a member of: American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological surgeons/Tumor Section.

Priding himself in being at the cutting edge of neurosurgery, Dr. Rayhaun treats a broad spectrum of neurological disorders utilizing the latest technical modalities including neuronavigational tools, Stereotaxis, and microsurgery. Complex brain surgeries as well as complex spinal fusion and instrumentation procedures are routine encounters. His greatest interest remains treating the individual patient with compassion, expertise and professionalism in a single specialty group practice setting.
