Gastroenterology
Gastroenterology is the study of the structure, functions, and diseases of the digestive organs and the alimentary canal (the route of nutrition through the body from intake to output). MemorialCare Medical Group’s services include a Digestive Disease Center specializing in gastroenterology.
Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer occurs when abnormal cells grow in the lining of the colon or rectum located at the end of the digestive system. Colorectal cancer grows slowly over time and mostly begins as a polyp that is non-cancerous. An uncommon type of polyp, called adenoma, can become cancerous.
Headache
A headache is pain in the head or face that is often described as a pressure that’s throbbing, constant, sharp or dull. Headaches can differ greatly regarding pain type, severity, location and frequency. While most headaches are not dangerous, certain types can be a sign of a more serious condition.
Skin Cancer – Melanoma
Skin cancer or melanoma forms in the melanocytes, cells found in the skin that produce melanin that tans the skin. Overexposure to the sun can cause melanocytes to cluster forming pink, tan, or brown moles. If moles begin to change shape, color or size they may be cancerous.
