Minimally Invasive Surgery
At MemorialCare we know that less is more, so our surgeons seek to perform the least invasive approach possible. We partner with our patients to determine the right surgical option for the best outcomes and quickest recovery.
MemorialCare offers a complete range of minimally invasive surgery options which often result in less scarring and improved recovery time. Whether it is robotic-assisted surgery, laparoscopic surgery, thoracoscopic surgery or arthroscopic surgery, our surgeons are equipped with the latest technology to provide great care to our patients for heart, lung, gynecological, urological, colorectal and gastrointestinal procedures.
Types of Minimally Invasive Surgery
Using the latest robotic surgical system, our surgeons have improved visualization, dexterity, precision and control, while only making small 1-2 cm incisions. Our patients often experience less pain and scarring, shorter hospital stays, and a quicker recovery to normal activity.
A wide range of robotic-assisted procedures are offered at MemorialCare’s award-winning hospitals. Patients in need of urologic surgery, gynecologic surgery, heart surgery, head and neck surgery, and gastroenterologic / general surgery now may have the option of robotic-assisted surgical treatment.
We offer laparoscopic surgery for a number of surgical procedures. During endoscopic or laparoscopic surgery, small incisions are made for an endoscope or laparoscope (a tiny camera connected to a video cord) and surgical tools to be inserted into the body. By watching a monitor, the surgeon is able to see inside the body to perform the surgery. With less pain and shorter hospital stays, patients return to their normal activities quicker.
Thoracoscopic surgery is a technique used to diagnose and treat problems in your chest. Through small incisions, surgeons insert a thoracoscope (a tiny video camera connected to a video cord) and surgical tools into the body. By watching a monitor, the surgeon is able to see inside the body to perform the surgery.
Arthroscopic surgery is a procedure used to diagnose and treat problems in joints. Through small incisions, surgeons insert an arthroscope, a small tube, into the joint to be examined.
