Trauma is the leading cause of death between individuals up to the age of 45 years. The key to preventing trauma is education. Long Beach Medical Center is dedicated to preventing injuries and deaths resulting from trauma. Injury prevention programs and support provided by Long Beach Medical Center include:

  • Every 15 Minutes Program: The Trauma Center at Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s collaborates with local high schools, police, ¬fire and other city departments to present the “Every 15 Minutes” Program. A two-day interactive injury prevention program, “Every 15 Minutes,” is dedicated to educating junior and senior high school students about the dangers of drinking or texting while driving. Participation in this event helps improve the health of the communities served by Long Beach Medical Center.
  • Stop the Bleed: No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it’s important to quickly stop blood loss. “Stop the Bleed” is a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to act quickly and save lives.
