Cancer treatment and recovery is a journey patients should not have to make alone. We offer support programs, counseling, and coordinated care to help you throughout the entire process.

Patient Education & Navigation Program

A diagnosis of cancer is a life-changing and often overwhelming experience. Many patients describe this experience as a journey. Saddleback Medical Center has specially trained and certified healthcare professionals who serve as “navigators” to help patients through the complex world of healthcare.

Our navigators can explain medical terms, the processes and order in which things need to happen, direct patients through the maze of diagnosis and treatment, and lead the patient’s transition from treatment into long-term wellness. They also help patients and families with problem-solving, empowerment, resource guidance and referral to community resources.

The navigator program is free, personal and confidential.

Nutrition Counseling

The right balance of nutrition can play a major role in the maintenance and recovery of health. Our certified nutrition counselors work with cancer patients to develop a nutrition program specifically balanced for each patient's individual needs.

Transitions

Cancer changes lives, both emotionally and physically. Transitions is a specialty boutique at Saddleback Medical Center that provides mastectomy bras, breast forms, compression garments, fashionable wigs, scarves, and hats, quality skin care products, and more. Our knowledgeable, compassionate staff is available to answer questions and provide any assistance you need.

Spiritual Counseling

We affirm the important role that spiritual health brings to the patient's overall well-being and successful healing. Our spiritual care team and chaplains offer spiritual counseling for patients and families who may request it. All recognized faiths are accommodated in a peaceful, private environment.

Coping Strategies & Resource Connection

Social Workers trained in cancer care help cancer patients cope with their current emotional and physical state, and recommend and refer patients to community resources, provide brief supportive counseling and crisis intervention. This is achieved through support, education, communication, respect and advocacy.
