Matthew U Janssen, MD

Matthew Janssen, MD, studied medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. He later went on to complete his residency and fellowship at the University of California, Irvine and is dual boarded in emergency medicine as well as hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Janssen chose a career in medicine at the age of 17 after his mother and aunt developed breast cancer and was saved by the work of providers. This made an impression on him and he switched career plans of becoming a pilot to becoming a physician. He went into palliative care because of his experience and wanted to make an impact on patients and families during difficult times.

I enjoy being able to identify and deliver what patients want the most during this difficult time in their lives.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Janssen enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with his wife and five children.
