Dr. Mark Lee is a physician at Memorial Cardiology Medical Group. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and board eligible in Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP). He earned an undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at UCLA and his medical degree at the University of Vermont.
Post-graduate training in Internal Medicine was completed at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA where he participated in research leading to the discovery of a novel cardiac condition called the “stiff left atrial syndrome” after catheter ablation. He returned to the University of Vermont to complete subspecialty training in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology, and was a sub-investigator in multiple clinical trials.
Dr. Lee is excited to return home, literally, to Long Beach as he was born at Long Beach Medical Center some time ago. An expert in heart rhythm disorders, Dr. Lee has the skillset to treat patients suffering from brady- and tachyarrhythmias. He worked with national leaders in the field of EP while training in Vermont, and is proficient with all modalities of interventional EP including implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices. Dr. Lee is particularly passionate about complex ablation, and is eager to provide definitive therapy for the treatment of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia to the community.
Dr. Lee loves to meet and engage with patients, and views the heart as part of a “cardiovascular system”. He treats the heart not in isolation, but in harmony with the patients’ existing medical conditions and their goals.
In his spare time, Dr. Lee continues to hack away at golf and guitar, hoping one day he will flush his long-iron and pluck that legendary sustain on his ebony Les Paul.
