Lorna McFarland, MD

Dr. Lorna McFarland grew up in Bronx, N. Y. and graduated from Yale University with a degree in psychology. She later earned a teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley. After two years of teaching elementary school, she returned to Berkeley and Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania to finish her pre-medical training. Dr. McFarland began her medical school training at the University of California, San Francisco, then completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

In 1989, Dr. McFarland moved to West Africa, where she served as a physician with the Peace Corps and at a missionary health clinic. After five years in Africa, she returned to the U.S. practicing at Clinica Para Las Americas and serving as an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. McFarland joined Columbia Pediatrics in 1996.

Dr. McFarland is board certified in Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is on staff at Miller Children's Hospital and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UC Irvine.

Dr. McFarland is married with two sons. She enjoys reading, movies, theater and aerobic classes.
