About Me
Dr. Jamal Hasan was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from University of Hawaii with Bachelor of Art, earned his medical degree at Ross University, Dominica, West Indies, and completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Nassau University Medical Center affiliated with Stony Brook Medical, New York. Subsequently, he completed his fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at UCI program.
In 2007 Dr. Hasan was recruited to stay on and join faculty at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and associate faculty for University of California, Irvine Department Pediatrics to work with residents and neonatal fellows. He helped develop and teach MOC code in the NICU unit at Miller Children’s Hospital. He is also involved in nursing education and in the development of Small Baby Unit - a unique unit involved in improving the outcome of these extremely premature infants based on evidence base medicine. A great success seen in this unit. Dr. Hasan hopes to develop units like this throughout Southern California.
Dr. Hasan is board Certified in both General Pediatrics and Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academic of Pediatrics, a member of the California Association of Neonatologist. His primary area clinical research include marker for predicting chronic lung disease. His work was published in Pediatrics journal in 2009 - soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 in tracheal aspirate fluid of preterm neonates at birth may be a marker for bronchopulmonary dysplasia/chronic lung disease.
