About
Elizabeth West, MD, specializes in OB/GYN. She enjoys working with women at every stage in their lives—from their first well-woman exam, through pregnancies and menopause. Additionally, she has a passion for nutrition and finds it gratifying to help her patients improve their diet, lifestyle and overall wellness.
Dr. West received her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine’s School of Medicine in 2012. Continuing at UCI, she furthered her training with a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. While there, she was awarded the position of Administrative Chief Resident, often given to those with exceptional clinical and leadership skills.
Originally from Boston, Dr. West moved to California for medical school and never left. She loves living in Long Beach where she can spend time with her husband and young children and enjoy local activities such as hiking, exploring new restaurants, and going to farmer’s markets.

I had issues with my hormone and she did not treat me like some other doctors did with disregard and oh you’re just old and she did a very thorough evaluation. She was kind she was caring. I had to have a biopsy, which was extremely painful she walked me through the process with knowledge and patience and care. Highly recommend.

As we approach my sweet son’s 2nd birthday we have been reflecting on our journey as parents, our gratitude, and his future. I just recommended my OBGYN to a few women looking for quality care in the LB area. So, I felt compelled to write a review since I had a few moments and was on Google grabbing her contact information/address location for my friends.While living in the Long Beach area, I was a patient of Dr. West’s. I have written reviews for her in the past that will mirror this one. She is fantastic. She listens. She is supportive. She helps you set achievable & reasonable health goals. In my case, goals that pertained to getting pregnant.After MANY doctors over the years swiftly dismissed my concerns in a few categories of my gynecological health, I landed in Long Beach & found Dr. West.From there she listened. Just listened. I have a lot of energy behind me, and she sensed it. She seemingly sensed my pain and possible “denial” of the hurt I was experiencing while attempting to get pregnant for several years. We set goals, she gave me some recommendations to shift my health in a more positive and conducive direction to get pregnant, and basically-symbolically held my hand to my end goal… my son.With gratitude, I highly recommend a Doctor that goes lengths to support the patients she attends to.Dr. West, we miss you & are still just as grateful as we last spoke. 🥰🙏🏻(Coincidentally, this was baby’s original due date)

She’s light hearted, kind and funny to boot and I’m always a bit more calm after our visits than before. She’s also a consummate professional and always willing to listen. We need more physicians like her.

Dr. West is one of my top 2 OBGYNDr. West it’s always so punctual and she doesn’t make us wait for more than 5 minutes. She is very smart, knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, kind, understanding, explains everything well and in simple terms. She listens and she gives great advice that resolves the issues. She doesnt talk over you or rushes you. She is very patient. I really appreciate how she will make time for her patience, when it’s urgent , she has a great nurse named Jamika. Jamika is amazing with getting our appointments in order and shes friendly. They are a great team. My teenage daughter and I see Dr. West. We feel well taken care of. We feel safe and our concerns are always taken seriously.

Dr West played a part in ensuring my entire third pregnancy and delivery journey seamless ( as far as doctors are concerned). I am normally a patient of Dr Spielvogel, who I love, but he was not available when I spontaneously went into labor and arrived at the hospital two weeks before my due date. Dr west was on call and I knew from previous interactions that I didn't want her as my Dr for my delivery, however things were moving too quickly and I was given no choice. She spoke down to me during the pushing phase of my delivery, as if I didn't know what I was doing or it wasn't good enough. The fact that I didn't lose my cool on her is a miracle as I was just so focused on getting through the pain as it was an all natural delivery. The nurses in the room were even stunned at her attitude with me and the comments she was making. I had the best birth possible with the worst Dr. I would not recommend her to anyone. I even had to return to L&D to have my stitches redone as they came undone from her poor attention to detail. She made it seem like she didn't want to be there at all. Very surprising coming from a fellow woman and mother.
