About Me

Clyde W. Smith, M.D., FACR, received a bachelor's degree in biology/chemistry from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. An internship at Chicago's Cook County Hospital was followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in cardiovascular radiology, both at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Smith also served in the United States Air Force as a general medical officer. Dr. Smith is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, was Certificed in 1972 and has been an examiner in cardiovascular radiology. He served for eleven years in academic teaching positions at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, TN and concurrently, as Director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Vanderbilt. He is now an Associate Clinical Professor of radiology at the University of California-Irvine. He was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology by the American Board of Radiology in November, 2000. Dr. Smith is a member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Heart Association, the Los Angeles Radiological Society and the Western Angiography and Interventional Society, He has published over 40 articles and contributed to five books.
