He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Denver with a degree in biology before earning his medical degree from the prestigious University of Washington School of Medicine, consistently ranked among the nation's top medical schools. During medical school, Dr. Slattery completed a dedicated research year in orthopedics and spine surgery, earning the prestigious Codman Award for his contributions to advancing the field.

Dr. Slattery completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of New Mexico, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He then pursued advanced fellowship training at the renowned Hoag Orthopedic Institute, performing over 500 complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries that year alone.
