196-21 | A Study of a New Way to Treat Children and Young Adults With a Brain Tumor Called Non-Germinomatous Central Nervous System Germ Cell Tumor (NGGCT)

Overview

“A Phase 2 Trial of Chemotherapy followed by Response Based Whole Ventricular & Spinal Canal Irradiation (WVSCI) for Patients with Localized Non-Germinomatous Central Nervous System Germ Cell Tumor”

A substantial proportion of patients with NGGCT do not attain an adequate response to chemotherapy to allow for reduced-dose/volume radiation, and this failure to respond to Induction chemotherapy predicts an inferior outcome and warrants additional therapy. An additional and investigational aspect of this study will be to intensify treatment and evaluate outcomes for patients who do not have a CR/PR and/or have persistent elevation of tumor markers after Induction chemotherapy.
