Karen E Koe, MD

"I have been in the field of woman's health care with Long Beach OB/GYN Medical Group since 1991. I am board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I strongly believe in a patient relationship that allows women to make their own informed decisions about their health care. My special interests include pregnancy, birth control, the management of menopause, and the treatment of osteoporosis. Our office, with a staff of six physicians and a nurse practitioner (two men/five women) is located next to the Cherese Mari Laulhere BirthCare Center at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital. We offer appointments from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. We also schedule appointments on Saturday mornings. We do return patient phone calls."

Dr. Karen Koe grew up in a small town in Connecticut. From there she moved to Virginia where she attended the College of William and Mary and majored in Biology. She then went to the Medical College of Virginia where she received her medical degree. She moved to Southern California in 1986 to do her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and joined Long Beach OB/GYN in 1991.

Dr. Koe primarily practices general OB/GYN, and has a particular interest in infertility, contraception, and menopause. She is experienced in surgery, from laparoscopies to hysterectomies. She really enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them with a variety of female issues and medical problems.

Dr. Koe is proud to announce that she is certified to use the Mona Lisa Touch laser. She is especially excited to be able to restore vaginal health quickly and painlessly using this new CO2 laser.

When not practicing medicine, she enjoys fitness, especially running, as well as attending the theater, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
