For breast cancer survivor Rena Chin, healing did not end with surgery. It became a lifelong journey supported by MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center and the generosity of donors who believe in whole-person care.
An active member of her community, Rena stays strong through daily exercise, tai chi and walking. Movement is essential to how she thrives after cancer. During a visit with her oncologist, Bhavana Pathak, M.D., medical director of integrative oncology, Rena noticed a flyer for Onco-ballet, a donor-funded program at the Women’s Health Pavilion. Created by ballerina and two-time cancer survivor Anna Wassman, Onco-ballet uses gentle ballet- inspired movement to support survivors physically and emotionally.
“I thought, why not try something new?” Rena said. “Movement helps me feel strong. It’s amazing that this hospital provides programs like this for free. It shows that Saddleback and its donors truly care.”
Rena also joins the Women’s Health Pavilion’s yoga classes, building a circle of support and inviting others along.
"These programs are about more than fitness. They bring people together. They help you feel whole again."
