When I was pregnant with my second baby, I knew I wanted a different kind of birth experience. I had decided on hypnobirthing, and my OB was incredibly supportive. I actually delivered my first baby with her, so I fully expected to do the same again. But around 30 weeks, I found out she would be out of the office near my due date. I was anxious, unsure, and honestly a little heartbroken. She suggested I meet with Denise and after our very first appointment, I realized it was the biggest blessing in disguise.From the moment I met her, Denise made me feel understood in a way I didn't even know I needed. She listened to me. She supported me. She encouraged me. She respected every part of my birth plan without hesitation. She had this calm, grounded presence that instantly put me at ease, especially in the moments when I doubted myself. She communicated with me through every step, checked in when I needed reassurance, and held space for me in a way that felt so genuine.Her approach was more hands‑off than what I had experienced with a traditional OB and that was exactly what I needed. She trusted my body. She trusted my instincts. She trusted the process. And because of her, my birth unfolded exactly the way I had hoped it would.But Denise didn't just help me bring my baby into the world the way I dreamed of...She opened my eyes to midwifery.Something shifted in me during my pregnancy and birth with her. I knew from the moment I met her that this was the kind of care I wanted to give other women. After I delivered my baby in September 2024, I felt so empowered, so supported, so good physically, emotionally, spiritually that I immediately started researching how to become a midwife myself.And now, I'm applying to nursing school. I'm one step closer to being able to offer the same compassion, patience, and presence that Denise gave me. One step closer to looking at a woman in labor with the same understanding I so desperately needed in those intense moments.If you're considering a midwife, I can say this with my whole heart:Denise will make you feel safe, supported, and seen no matter what your birth plan looks like. Denise was so kind and was able to fit me in for a last minute appointment. Despite being super busy and the appointment being super last minute, she did an incredible job. I had to get my arm implant removed and there was minimal pain. I almost didn’t notice when she numbed my arm, and didn’t feel a thing when she actually removed the implant.
