MemorialCare has been alerted by authorities about recent online scam. This new scam targets private parties selling items online (Craigslist, eBay etc.) by illegally issuing stolen checks from two of our subsidiary companies, Greater Newport Physicians and MemorialCare Medical Foundation.
If you or anyone you know has received an offer to purchase an item and the interested party sends a check like the samples below, please be aware that IT’S A SCAM. Please do not respond. We strongly encourage you to assist citizens and law enforcement by filing complaints with your local law enforcement agency and with the federal government at https://www.usa.gov/stop-scams-frauds and IC3.gov.
