MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center celebrated the opening of its new Dao Family Cardiovascular Suite together with philanthropic and community leaders, hospital physicians and nurses, and MemorialCare executives at a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, March 1. Local philanthropists and business leaders, Michael Dao, M.D. and Linh Bui, Pharm.D., were recognized for their $1 million donation to Orange Coast Medical Center to support its MemorialCare Heart and Vascular Institute.
The state-of-the-art Dao Family Cardiovascular Suite represents the next phase of development for the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Orange Coast Medical Center. Orange Coast Medical Center was Orange County’s first hospital to offer a hybrid cardiovascular interventional room, combining a cardiac operating room with a cardiovascular catheterization lab. Unveiled in 2010, this revolutionary room is designed for open-heart surgeries such as cardiac bypass, as well as minimally invasive catheter-based procedures such as coronary angioplasty and stenting. By merging these capabilities into one room, surgical procedures that used to require two or more hospital visits can now be performed during a single use of anesthesia, reducing the physical and emotional stress placed on patients and their families.
Established in 1986 and located in Fountain Valley, California, MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center is a fully accredited, 222-bed, non-profit hospital that serves approximately 120,000 patients annually in nearly every medical specialty.
