The music therapy program utilizes volunteers in two different capacities. Hallway Musicians are professional-caliber musicians that play violin, viola, cello, or piano, and have at least one hour of non-repeating repertoire. Musicians are posted in common areas (hallways of units, lobbies) to provide a calming environment to patients, families and guests. Music Therapy volunteers work alongside the music therapists to assist in cleaning instruments, passing out instruments/equipment to patients, and supplementing music therapy visits. Volunteers must be able to play at least one of the following on an intermediate level: piano, guitar, or ukulele.
Requirements: All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
