About Me
Dr. Setty is triple-board-certified in Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery. He began his medical education at the Medical College of Ohio where he graduated with honors (AOA) and then did his general surgery residency at Oregon Health Sciences University, the largest general surgery training program in the country. He then completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at the University of Minnesota/ Lillehei Heart Institute, the birthplace of modern cardiac surgery. Dr. Setty went on to do his congenital cardiac surgery fellowship at the renowned Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia and spent a year at Green Lane Hospital in New Zealand as a pediatric and adult cardiac surgery fellow.
Dr. Setty has experience in all aspects of pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery including the tiniest neonatal baby to an octogenarian. He also has experience in robotic and transplant surgery. He is currently involved in multiple basic and clinical cardiac research projects.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Setty has numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters to his credit, including over a dozen presented at national and international meetings. He is the surgical section editor of a congenital heart journal and has been invited to review numerous manuscripts for many other journals. Dr. Setty was also recognized in December 2016 by Becker's Hospital Review as One of 15 Young Physician Leaders to Know; and was one of only two physicians in the Pediatrics category who was awarded "Top Doctors" in the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2017. He was recognized once again as a "Top Doctor" by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2022.
Above all, Dr. Setty’s primary interest is in providing the highest level of individualized care for each one of his patients. This also includes his humanitarian visits to underserved areas around the world. Dr. Setty has traveled to many countries including India, Philippines, Fiji and Haiti collectively over twenty times where he led teams to perform and teach life-saving congenital heart surgeries on young patients who otherwise would not have had the chance to live.
As a specialist, Dr. Setty may not be selected as a primary care physician.
