About
Sarah Hassan, MD joined the OC Blood & Cancer Care team in 2018. Originally from Chicago, she is excited to call Orange County her new home.
Before she began residency, Dr. Hassan worked as a research associate at the University of Illinois Department of Surgery in Chicago. While assisting with Islet Cell Transplant for Type 1 Brittle Diabetics, she discovered an interest in immunology, molecular biology, and progressive treatment options that aim to cure presumed incurable diseases. This experience greatly influenced her decision to pursue work in cancer treatments.
Dr. Hassan completed her Internal Medicine residency at St Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio in 2015. She completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2018. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Hassan supports Integrative Medicine and although she enjoys working with all patients, she is most interested in treating breast cancer. She strongly values patient autonomy and personalized medicine. Her goal is to provide empathetic care and dignity to every patient she treats.
In her free time Dr. Hassan loves to hike, spend time at the beach, travel, learn different languages, and appreciate art. She is fluent in Urdu and understands basic Polish and Spanish.

Dr Hassan was amazing! You can tell she cares for her patients and their well being. I had low ferritin but every other doctor was telling me I was fine. She wanted me to get infusions asap and really took the time to listen to all of my symptoms. She has incredible bedside manners, is upbeat, and so kind. I walked out of my appointment feeling so well cared for! She also didn't rush me out and answered any questions I had. Thank you dr Hassan for being a doctor in health care who really CARES.

I have been with Dr Hassan now for five years through my breast cancer journey, and I can’t say enough about her. The compassion, the knowledge, the care that she shows for you and doesn’t rush you out the door and she make sure that you’re comfortable with everything that you have going on. Today was our first virtual meeting. I laughed because I’m so used to see her in person but they had to move her schedule, but that went really well too. I would highly recommend Dr Hassan.💖

I’m in the medical field, I understand how to read blood values. If a value is the lowest of its “normal range,” I think a pt should be notified. I call this “ preventive medicine- I had to bring it up in the conversation, as I was not notified about it. I was disappointed about that, but nothing else. Dr. H. Has a lovely bedside manner- but we all need to be pro-active, not lost-active.
