Ravi M Shankar, MD

Ravi Shankar, MD is a Board-certified specialist in Hematology/Oncology with over 20 years of experience in the field. In addition to maintaining a private practice, Dr. Shankar has been involved in numerous clinical research studies as a primary investigator. His path to medicine was clear at a young age. “I had many physicians in my family, so I was exposed to the field early in life,” he says. “I developed a great appreciation for the hard work and academic rigor it takes to become a physician, and ultimately was inspired by the incredible reward that came from helping others.”

Dr. Shankar feels the greatest professional satisfaction when he does everything he can to help his patients have a good outcome. 

"Cancer is an incredibly challenging time and whatever I can do to help my patients during this journey is my top priority.” 

He was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, attended college at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and then spent four years away for medical school in Philadelphia at Drexel University. He returned to complete his medical training in Southern California.

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Shankar says “Much of my time away from work is spent with my wife and three amazing kids. Our weekends are typically consumed by their sports, dance and music rehearsals but when we get do get unfettered free time, we love to go on hikes and explore the amazing eateries around Orange County.”
