About
Marco Ruiz, MD chose his career in Family Medicine so he could focus on helping his patients with their overall health to lead longer, healthier lives using evidence-based medicine. He wants to build meaningful, genuine relationships with his patients and inspire them to take ownership of their own health as he teaches them how to make a big difference with the right tools.
Dr. Ruiz feels it is most important to educate his patients on the “why” when he prescribes treatment and care. He believes in complete transparency when it comes to healthcare decision making and always has his patients’ best interests at heart while treating them like his own family.
Dr. Ruiz grew up in a Southern, mid-sized town in Texas called Laredo and comfortably speaks Spanish. Outside of the office, he enjoys classical music, attending live concerts, playing the Marimba, hiking, traveling, and reading up on the latest technology advances. In college, he studied music alongside medicine and continues to keep music part of his daily life. Wherever possible, Dr. Ruiz likes to add humor into his life with good jokes and clever puns.

He explained everything in a way that felt clear, reassuring, and never rushed. I also want to express how wonderful his entire team was from the moment I walked in. Cathy, the nurse who took my vitals and assisted Dr. Ruiz, was amazing, and Lupe, the phlebotomist who drew my blood, was also incredible. I honestly could not believe I didn’t feel a thing when he drew my blood because I am a huge baby when it comes to that. He made it so quick, gentle, and easy.I’m beyond impressed with the welcoming, positive, and caring environment this facility has created. Dr. Ruiz and his team have such great energy, professionalism, and warmth. They made me feel comfortable from start to finish, and I’m truly grateful for such a great experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Ruiz to anyone looking for a doctor who is knowledgeable, compassionate, attentive, personable, and genuinely invested in making his patients feel safe and cared for.

The new lady at the front desk was not able to get my name corrected. On my chart clearly states to call me by my preferred and middle name and she did not. She struggled to find my file and almost made me late to my appointment. Medical assistant Katherine (not sure if the spelling) also struggled with the same issue. she was rude about it when I corrected her. She talked back to me. There should be something on the charts that indicate more clearly to the staff with the patient wants to be called. It’s always a pleasure to see my doctor, but it’s never a pleasure to see the front staff or the MA’s. There is a lack of professionalism. This is not the first time I’ve experienced this. Around the office I have heard that it’s hard to find good help and I’ve experienced this at the front desk and during check in.I’ve also checked in early and my medical assistant and Katherine did not seem to read the chart before and she said the information does not transfer from the app. So I’m checking in twice at this point. Is there a way that the systems can reach each other or that the staff is more prepared when someone checks-in in advance?

He’s very forthright and earnest in his delivery, and is wonderful at viewing a situation from multiple angles, highlighting the positive and encouraging patients to try to do the same. That’s not to say he doesn’t listens with sincerity and resolution; he truly does! I feel cared for and heard without judgement. The fact that he’ll punctuate the visit with good humor and personal anecdotes definitely puts me at ease. He may be young, but he’s got an old soul and the brains to boot!

Went in for a physical and got a wellness check. 2nd time I scheduled a physical with MMC and got a damn wellness check? What the hell is going on? Twice in a year. Makes me want to change medical companies asap.
