About Me
Dr. Ruggio completed medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City where he graduated with distinction and was inducted into the AOA society. He continued on with internship and residency as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ruggio continued with his additional training at a number of outstanding institutions in the United States, focusing on interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine. Dr. Ruggio is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology.
He is the Founder and President of Pacific Cardiovascular Associates Medical Group, Inc. (PCA) based in Southern California. Dr. Ruggio serves on national committees for quality initiatives and healthcare reform. He also participates on scientific advisory panels and is a board member for several prestigious organizations that include:
- Chairman of the Quality Initiatives Committee for California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology
- Member, Cal Optima Physician Advisory Committee
- Member, Board of Directors, Monarch HealthCare
In addition, he has served as Director of Invasive/Interventional Cardiology for Anaheim Regional Medical Center, Irvine Regional Hospital and Medical Center and South Coast Medical Center.
He is evangelical about evidence based medical practice and continues to be regarded as a high volume highly respected interventional cardiologist. He is committed to the training and education of fellow cardiologists. His outcomes for managing complex and advanced cardiovascular problems have been consistently excellent.
Dr. Ruggio has received numerous distinctions and accolades from both academic and managed care communities. He has co-authored many articles appertaining to cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular health care delivery in a managed care setting. He serves as an editor or advisory consultant for several clinical journals, and for various professional societies. As testimony to the high regard he is held by his colleagues he was voted cardiologist of the year by his peers of the American College of Cardiology in 2007, a distinction reserved for very few cardiologists nationwide.
