Erin Okawa, MD

Dr. Okawa received her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) in Philadelphia. She then moved to Los Angeles and completed her residency in Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. After residency she moved to Boston, MA to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard University. She performed her fellowship research at Joslin Diabetes Center where she worked in a beta cell regeneration laboratory. Her clinical interests include type 1 diabetes, monogenic diabetes, and hyperinsulinism. In addition to her practice at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women's Hospital Long Beach, she is the Director of the Hyperinsulinism Center at UCLA.
