Don Q Phung, DO

Don Q. Phung, DO chose a career in medicine because he has always been passionate about helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives. 

“Growing up, I was very close to my grandparents, and caring for my grandfather during his illness strengthened my desire to become a physician. I was attracted to internal medicine because it enables me to build long-term relationships with my patients, care for them through different stages of life, and address a wide variety of health issues.”

Dr. Phung believes that the most rewarding part of his job is building meaningful connections with his patients. ‘Over time, I get to learn their stories, share in their joys, and celebrate their milestones. Many patients feel like extended family to me, and I truly enjoy walking alongside them in their health journey. Seeing my patients’ health improve, knowing that they can live healthy, fulfilling lives, brings the greatest satisfaction in my work.”

It is important to Dr. Phung that his patients know that he genuinely cares about their well-being and sees them as partners in their healthcare. “I strive to listen attentively, explain things clearly, and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and being involved in decisions about their health,” he adds.

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Phung enjoys watching and playing basketball. “I’ll admit I’m much better at cheering for the Lakers than making shots myself,” he notes. “I love exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and I feel fortunate to live in Southern California, where there is such an incredible variety of cuisines and flavors to try. I also enjoy cooking, fishing, and keeping houseplants.”
