About
Cindy Zia, M.D. worked as a family medicine physician for well over a decade before joining MemorialCare. Medicine appealed to her as a career for several reasons. “I wanted to be able to help people using science,” she says. “I believe it is truly an honor to be the doctor taking care of a whole family.”
Dr. Zia says she gets the most satisfaction from her work when her partnerships with patients result in their improved health. “It’s important to me that patients know that I enjoy building relationships with them that positively impact their well-being.”
Dr. Zia grew up in Taiwan and lived in Iowa for six months before moving with her family to Southern California. When she is not practicing medicine, she volunteers at her children’s Mandarin immersion school. She also enjoys watching Korean dramas and learning Korean.

In 2026, I transitioned from the Optum medical system to MemorialCare, and my Primary Care Physician is Dr. Zia at the MemorialCare Medical Group - Irvine (Barranca). Although the commute is slightly farther from my home compared to my previous clinic, this has truly been the right decision for my healthcare.Dr. Zia is exceptional. She is compassionate, attentive, and very thorough. Before beginning any examination, she always asks for consent, including permission to record for better clinical documentation, which reflects her professionalism and respect for patient autonomy. She listens carefully, takes time to understand concerns, and works thoughtfully to identify potential root causes. When further tests or medications are needed, she acts promptly and provides clear follow-up guidance.One thing I especially appreciate is her efficiency in communicating results. After visits and test results, she often posts detailed insights and recommendations directly on MyChart the same day, which is incredibly helpful and reassuring.Additionally, Dr. Zia speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, which is a great advantage for patients who prefer bilingual communication. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, detail-oriented, and communicative female PCP.I am very satisfied with my experience so far and feel confident continuing my care with Dr.Zia.

She was nice, but I felt that her exam was very short and incomplete. This was my first time with her for an annual physical, but she skipped so many things that are usually done during a physical, including checking the ears with an otoscope, breast exam, etc, etc. I used to be a PA, so I know how a physical should be done, and I regret to say that it felt like she was just going through the motions.

I wasn't aware that our appointment was being recorded. The word(s) "being recorded" were never used. I would never have agreed to her "using her phone" if I knew I was being recorded. If you can't do your job without illegally recording someone, maybe you should look I to another profession.
