About
“My decision to pursue Obstetrics and Gynecology began long before I understood the specialty itself,” begins Arjina Boodaghian, DO. “My great-grandmother, despite having no formal education, was the first person to teach me about women's reproductive health. She shared what she knew with openness and honesty, determined that the women in her family would have knowledge that she herself had to piece together through experience. Those conversations left a lasting impression on me. They made me realize how powerful education can be and how access to accurate information about one's own body should never be a privilege.” For Dr. Boodaghian, that early curiosity grew into a deeper appreciation for the complexity of women's health and the trust that exists between a patient and her OB/GYN. “I was drawn to a field where I could combine medicine, surgery, continuity of care and patient education while helping women navigate some of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives. In many ways, pursuing OB/GYN feels like a continuation of the lesson my great-grandmother first taught me: that empowering women with knowledge and compassionate care can have a lasting impact across generations.”
Dr. Boodaghian spent most of her life in Southern California after immigrating from Iran with her family at a young age. “Growing up between cultures has shaped my perspective and strengthened my appreciation for the importance of communication, empathy, and culturally sensitive care,” she says. “I am fluent in Armenian and English and also speak some Spanish, which has allowed me to connect with and care for patients from diverse backgrounds.”
Dr. Boodaghian shares that the greatest satisfaction she finds in working with patients is being able to support them through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. “Whether they are facing a new diagnosis, navigating uncertainty or making difficult decisions, I value the opportunity to be a steady source of guidance and reassurance. I find it incredibly rewarding to educate patients, empower them to understand their health, and connect them with the resources they need to move forward with confidence. Knowing that I can help someone feel heard, informed, and supported during a vulnerable time is what makes patient care so meaningful to me.”
It is important to her that her patients know that they can always feel safe, heard, and respected in her care.
“My goal is to create an environment where they feel comfortable sharing their concerns without fear of judgment. I am committed to listening with compassion, advocating for their needs, and doing everything I can to help them navigate whatever they may be going through. Even when I don't have all the answers immediately, my patients can trust that I will work tirelessly to find the best path forward alongside them.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Boodaghian enjoys spending time hiking with her husband and their dog, exploring new local restaurants, and discovering coffee shops where we they relax and unwind. “I also have a longstanding passion for painting and received several years of professional training in art,” she says. “ I look forward to reconnecting with that creative outlet and making it a larger part of my life again.”
