Overview

“PREcision VENTilation to Attenuate Ventilator-Induced Lung Injury (PREVENT VILI: A Phase 3 Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial)”

Researchers are studying two approaches to mechanical ventilation for adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who require a ventilator to help them breathe. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a precision ventilation approach that adjusts ventilator settings based on individual lung and breathing measurements or a guided usual-care approach. Researchers want to learn whether the precision approach can reduce lung injury and improve survival. Participants will be followed for up to 60 days to evaluate survival, recovery from mechanical ventilation, and other health outcomes.
