The celebration opened with remarks from Anne Hertz-Mallari, mayor pro-tem, City of Cypress, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, California’s 65th Assembly District, Shelley Henderson, board chair, Cypress Chamber of Commerce and editor of the OC Breeze, and Mark Schafer, M.D., chief executive officer, MemorialCare Medical Group. Immediately after the remarks, Dr. Schafer and Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva cut the ribbon in front of the urgent and primary care entrances, symbolizing the opening of the location to the public.

“As a member of the Cypress Council, having more critical healthcare services located in our community makes it easier for our residents to seek out timely care,” said Anne Hertz-Mallari, Mayor Pro-Tem, City of Cypress.

After the ribbon cutting, Laila Scalzi, practice manager, MemorialCare Medical Group Cypress, gave tours inside of the new facility. The facility contains x-ray imaging and laboratory services, as well as several rooms to house primary and urgent care patients for checkups or treatment.

“MemorialCare is a nonprofit integrated health system that continues to grow an extensive network of medical sites of care in and around Orange County,” said Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, California’s 65th Assembly District. “The newest Cypress location means families do not have to travel far to receive excellent care.”

This new location brings greater access to primary care for those in the MemorialCare network and will help fill a gap in urgent care services in the area, giving the residents of Cypress additional support for their needs.

With a large portion of MemorialCare employees living in the Cypress area, they are excited to be able to receive care closer to home.

“We are happy to bring quality and cost-effective primary and urgent care to Cypress,” says Mark Schafer, M.D., chief executive officer, MemorialCare Medical Group. “This location will have x-ray and lab services for a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all your primary care needs. Thanks to the MemorialCare Medical Group leadership team and MemorialCare Medical Group Cypress Clinical staff for all of your effort.”

The MemorialCare Medical Group Cypress location will see its first patients on Monday, April 25.
