Your physician may be using a different electronic medical record system. This means you will need to login to a different patient portal. Is your physician is using Next MD?

Please do not use myChart to send any messages requiring urgent attention. For urgent medical matters, contact your doctor's office. For medical emergencies call 9-1-1.

What is myChart Bedside?

During your hospital stay, myChart has a special view called myChart Bedside. myChart Bedside allows you to view current hospital visit information, including:

  • Your hospital health issues and conditions you are being treated for
  • Your primary doctor and clinical teams during your hospital visit
  • The current list of medications being administered during your stay
  • Your latest lab and test results
  • Granting proxy access to your inpatient medical record should it be needed during your stay

If you already have a myChart or MemorialCare account, you can access myChart Bedside from either application.

How is myChart Bedside different from my regular myChart account?

myChart is our patient portal, it can be accessed at any time to view your medical record. myChart Bedside is a special view available during a hospital stay. myChart Bedside provides real time information during a patient’s hospital stay. Patients can always switch back to the regular myChart view. After the hospital stay, patients no longer see the myChart Bedside view.

Yes, you can always switch between the myChart Bedside view and your usual myChart activities.

Is there a fee to use myChart Bedside?

The myChart application is free of charge. You can access the myChart Bedside view during a hospital stay directly from the myChart application. The myChart application is available on Android and iOS mobile devices.

Who is myChart Bedside available for?

We are testing myChart Bedside across a few select units throughout our hospital system to collect feedback on the experience before making it available to everyone.

If you are admitted to those units, you will have myChart Bedside available. However, if you transfer to a new unit that is not included in our pilot program, you will lose access to Bedside during this testing period. We appreciate your patience and any feedback that you can provide to help us improve myChart Bedside for more patients in the future.

How do I request a proxy to my myChart Bedside account during my hospital stay?
  • Ask your care team for guidance on setting up proxy access. Depending on the type of access you are requesting, you may need to work with our admitting team to complete the necessary forms.
  • Parents accessing records for children or adolescents under 18 will be required to complete a consent form before access is granted. The consent ensures that we have the right permissions to share health information.
  • Adults (18 years and above) can grant proxy access directly through their own myChart account via the Sharing Hub.

What if some of my health information on myChart Bedside is wrong, what should I do?
  • Your health information comes directly from your medical record. You may ask your care team to fix any incorrect information.
  • For items that your care team cannot fix, please contact our Health Information Management team to assist you.

I have medical concerns that are not listed on myChart Bedside, why is that?
  • The list of medical concerns comes from health information entered by your care team during your hospital stay. The full list may contain specific medical terms that are tied to diagnoses codes that are intended for technical documentation purposes.
  • There may be other health concerns for which you see a medical provider, but are not being actively managed during this your hospital stay. You can navigate to the myChart view to see all your current and past medical visits.

When can I see my test results in myChart Bedside?

Most test results are available immediately. You can navigate to the test results section to review the information. However, your provider and care team may need more time to review these results as part of your entire care plan. Please wait for your provider to discuss these results with you directly.

How can I activate a myChart account if I do not have one yet?
  • The care team, registration staff, or unit secretary can send you an activation code to begin the myChart activation process.
  • If you do not have an activation code, you can sign up with your information here.

How do I access my health information after my hospital stay?

Once a patient is discharged from the hospital his or her hospital visit can be found in the Past Visits section of myChart. Patients can access the Visit Notes and After Visit Summary for details on their hospital stay.

Can I use myChart Bedside to edit medications or add different preferred pharmacies while in the hospital?
  • Please notify your care team if you need to make adjustments to your home medications or preferred pharmacies while you are in the hospital. This will ensure your care team has the most updated information.
  • Do not take any medications during your hospital stay unless your provider tells you otherwise. If you have questions, talk with your care team.

Why do I see an expected discharge date in myChart Bedside and what is this used for?
  • Your Expected Date of Discharge (EDD) is the day we anticipate you may be ready to leave the hospital based on your current progress. Your care team reviews this daily to make sure you're ready and have everything in place before you leave.
  • This date can change depending on how you're doing. Please work with your care team to understand what else is needed to ensure you have a safe discharge.
