Julia E Buchfuhrer, DO

Dr. Buchfuhrer is a fellowship trained, board certified rheumatologist with JB Arthritis and Rheumatology Center in Downey.

Her clinical interests include gout and psoriatic arthritis, but she focuses on all areas of rheumatology

Dr. Julia Buchfuhrer opened her practice JB Arthritis and Rheumatology Center in 2021. Dr. Buchfuhrer has quickly become a prominent rheumatologist in the United States, holding committee leadership positions with the American College of Rheumatology, the Association of Women in Rheumatology, and the Rheumatology Private Practice Alliance. She often gives lectures on rheumatology topics to other physicians and routinely teaches at residency and fellowship programs. She enjoys giving back in this way while staying up to date in the field of rheumatology.

Why Rheumatology? 

“I grew up an avid athlete. In college I played division I rugby. I had many injuries that really set me back, not to mention the pain that came with them. I learned from a young age how important having a healthy musculoskeletal system is. I know what it feels like to have joint, ligament, tendon, and muscle pain, so I am better able to empathize and care for my patients—that is what I love about rheumatology!”

Dr. Buchfuhrer is often enjoying her hobbies – mountain biking, skiing, scuba diving, rugby, hiking, surfing – in her time outside of clinic.
