MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center is proud to be a grant recipient of the Samueli Foundation’s Breakaway Fund, supporting the expansion of the hospital’s critical care unit (CCU) through the addition of three new state-of-the-art Stryker patient beds. Out of more than 1,000 applicants, we were among 138 organizations selected to receive support to help deliver mission-critical programs and services to our community.

Designed to support the complex needs of critical care, Stryker beds are designed to promote patient safety through fall prevention technologies, support mobility and provide ergonomic features that enhance caregiver and responsiveness. These resources play an important role as Orange Coast continues to meet the increasing needs of the community with the CCU expansion, elevating the total bed count to 28 and modernizing current diagnostic and imaging technologies within the unit.

The Samueli Foundation has long demonstrated a deep dedication to advancing innovative solutions that improve lives across Orange County. The Breakaway Fund, a first-of-its-kind grant-making initiative, was expanded to $11 million from its initial $5 million budget due to urgent community-based needs. Their support for Orange Coast is a powerful example of their vision in action: strengthening community health through collaborative partnerships. Thank you, Samueli Foundation, for your generosity!
