Christian Dela Rosa BSN, RNFrom his early days as a Marine to his current role as a clinical educator, Christian’s journey is a narrative of service, education and the power of philanthropy.

Whether it’s serving our country or patients in the Myrtle Dermody Emergency Care Department, Christian Dela Rosa, BSN, RN, is a steady presence—a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment to his work.

Christian’s journey spans beyond the walls of MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center. Before his career in nursing, he spent 12 years in the Marine Corps, facing the rigors of combat in Iraq and contributing to our nation's defense.

His transition to nursing mirrored his commitment to service, navigating the intense pressures of an ER with the same determination he once applied in the battlefield.

The parallels between Christian’s military service and his nursing career are striking—both demanding courage, quick thinking and adaptability amidst uncertainty.

These experiences have equipped him not only with clinical expertise but also with a profound love for leadership. Now as the clinical educator in Emergency Services, this passion has led Christian to seek advanced education as he pursues his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP).

Central to Christian’s narrative is the pivotal role of donor-funded scholarships, made possible through the generosity of individuals like Bill Stephens.

As a veteran, it’s incredibly meaningful to help a fellow veteran on their journey, especially one committed to a career in nursing. Many of my family members are nurses, so after my experience at Saddleback, I knew exactly how I wanted to pay it forward.

- Bill Stephens

Reflecting on the profound impact of these scholarships on his career and personal growth, Christian shares, "I am deeply grateful for the donors whose generosity has supported me not once, but twice, through these scholarships.

Their support not only lifted financial burdens but also empowered me to pursue advanced roles within our ED, shaping my journey in ways I couldn't have imagined."

Education stands as a cornerstone of Christian’s journey, enabling him and countless others to navigate the progression of health care. Advanced education, he argues, not only enhances career prospects but also plays a crucial role in improving patient care.

"Education in health care is not just about career advancement, but about equipping ourselves to better serve patients, families and our community."

- Christian Dela Rosa

Through donor-funded scholarships and the power of philanthropy, we honor the legacy of support by our generous donors that enables individuals like Christian to thrive and enrich our Saddleback community.
