Dr. Jeffrey Riker has been practicing pulmonary, critical care and internal medicine at Long Beach Memorial Hospital since 1972. He has been the Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services for 41 years. Dr. Riker served as the Medical Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit for 26 years, since it's inception in 1973. He is especially interested in helping patients with chronic lung disease to function at the best possible level by assisting them to be knowledgeable, active participants in their own care.
To that end, he has been especially pleased to have helped develop and direct the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
He has enjoyed and benefitted from Long Beach Memorial's affiliation with the U.C. Irvine School of Medicine. He serves as a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Director of the Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Program and has held positions as Chief of the Department of Medicine and Vice Chief of Staff and served for two years as the President of the Long Beach Lung Association. Dr. Riker is also the director of the Adult Pulmonary Fellowship Program on the Long Beach Memorial Campus.
