Only with your help, can we provide extraordinary care

Thanks to your philanthropic support and partnership, we consistently strive for excellence in patient-centered care at Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

Philanthropic giving enables our hospitals to provide comprehensive and leading-edge care for patients, beyond standard medical care. For example, your financial gifts allow the Long Beach Medical Center provides physical, emotional, and psychological healing through services such as fitness and exercise programs, a cancer support group, nurse navigation, nutritional counseling, oncology rehabilitation, to only mention a few.

Plus, your support today will help provide holistic outpatient care and support services to children and families all in one easy-to-access location – the Cherese Mari Laulhere Children’s Village to open next year. Currently, Miller Children’s & Women’s provides ongoing care for patients in a variety of medical offices throughout Long Beach. But, with your help, patients will be seen at the forthcoming Children’s Village for a variety of reasons – from a one-time consultation to treatments for acute, chronic and surgical conditions.

Meet Isabella

"Isabella is getting the best care for her medical needs, and for that, our family is greatly blessed beyond words for the entire Miller Children's care team."
- Isabella's parents

Your philanthropic support will help us continue to improve our capability to provide the highest level of care for our smallest of babies along with their mothers.

Isabella spent almost one month in our NICU – the largest level III NICU in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties – equipped with specialists and advanced care capabilities to serve the sickest of critically-ill and premature babies. Since she was born with a cleft lip and palate, along with congenital heart disease, Isabella struggled with eating and breathing. Her parents also struggled with all these medical unknowns.

Isabella underwent the first in a series of surgeries to correct her cleft lip with our Craniofacial Program at the Stramski Children’s Developmental Center. Her surgery was incredibly successful.

Your support is vital to continue providing life-saving, comprehensive care to nearly 6,000 babies each year in our community – 1,000 of which are NICU high-risk infants like Isabella.

Meet Sharon

"I'm thankful for everyone I've met on this journey. From my yoga survivors' class at Long Beach Medical Center to my care team. Everyone is so positive and embracing."
- Sharon

Your support is crucial to helping ensure that patients like Sharon are surrounded by hopefulness when unexpected challenges arise on their cancer journeys.

Sharon was recently diagnosed with her second breast cancer diagnosis during a routine appointment with her gynecologist. Fortunately, with advanced treatments and holistic support services, her repeat diagnosis carried a silver lining of hope and new possibilities to battle her fear.

Sharon’s care team of physicians, radiation therapists, nurses, and social workers at our MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute developed a treatment plan to meet her individual needs. After six rounds of chemotherapy, and 28 days of radiation, Sharon learned that she had beat cancer not once, but twice!

Your financial support today will allow us to continue to partner with patients in our community on their cancer and other long-term health journeys.
