An interspinous spacer is a device that is inserted into the spine to treat pain associated with spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis causes a narrowing of the space between vertebrae resulting in compression of nerves and subsequent pain, numbness and weakness. The interspinous spacer is placed between the spinous processes and gently opens these spaces, thereby reducing compression on the nerves caused by these narrowed spaces.
