Our Complex Pancreatic & Liver Cancer Program provides advanced diagnostic and treatment options for patients with pancreatic or liver cancer.
Pancreatic and liver cancers are often hard to find, which results in late detection. Since neither cancer has a standard screening, we offer interventional endoscopy, which is an advanced level of gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic care that focuses on providing patients with safe and effective alternatives to invasive diagnostic testing or surgery.
Based on the extent of pancreatic or liver cancer, surgery to remove part or all of the affected organ is often a primary treatment option.
Led by a dedicated pancreatic and liver surgeon, our surgical team has extensive experience in procedures to treat pancreatic and liver cancer, such as a hepatectomy (removal of part of the liver) or the Whipple procedure, which is a complex operation to remove pancreatic cancers.
Our team performs these complex procedures and others using minimally invasive techniques by making small incisions in the abdominal wall. Traditional surgery requires a longer incision and wider opening of the abdomen, while minimally invasive procedures result in less pain, blood loss and scaring, as well as faster recovery times for patients.
These complex surgeries are supported by comprehensive technology and treatments, including:
Additional non-surgical treatment options also are available in partnership with our Interventional Radiology team, including:
