Long Beach Medical Center is leading the way in advancing minimally invasive surgery using robotic and computer-assisted surgeries and technologies. Each of our surgeons is completely credentialed through a rigorous training process. Additionally, our surgical support teams are specialty trained in the management of robotic procedures. Utilizing the latest technology, such as the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System, ExactechGPS® Shoulder Application, ExcelsiusGPS® Robotic Navigation, Mako™ and O-arm, our surgeons are able to offer a variety of procedures for a wide range of specialties, including:
Intuitive Surgical® has designated Long Beach Medical Center a Mentor Case Observation Site for robotic-assisted thoracic surgery using the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System. As one of only three Mentor Case Observation Sites in Southern California, we will welcome three to four surgeons each year to learn the latest robotic-assisted surgery techniques from our da Vinci® Xi™ thoracic surgery expert, Dr. Amir Abolhoda. Dr. Abolhoda uses the da Vinci® Xi™ to perform cardiothoracic procedures within our MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute and thoracic cancer procedures within the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute.
Mentoring includes discussion of patient pathology, surgical approaches, intraoperative applications and post-operative patient management. During surgery, Dr. Abolhoda will help surgeons from around the United States develop skills by teaching them unique techniques and by providing a step-by-step demonstration on the system. This mentoring allows these surgeons to bring these advanced techniques to their own practice to enhance patient care in their area.
Our staff is dedicated to providing its patients with the highest quality care. Our surgical center includes 23 general surgery operating rooms, featuring the highest quality surgical technology with warm personalized care in a comfortable atmosphere, designed to put patients at ease.
