Overactive bladder is the frequent need to urinate along with a feeling that the urge to urinate cannot be delayed. Even though overactive bladder is common in older adults, it is not a natural part of the aging process. It can lead to urinary incontinence.

Symptoms 

  • Sudden urge to urinate that is difficult to control
  • Urge incontinence – involuntary leakage immediately following urge to urinate
  • Frequent urination, including nighttime

  • Neurological disorders
  • High urine production
  • Medications
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Abnormalities
  • Excess consumption of caffeine or alcohol
