Interventional oncology is a field of medicine and a sub-specialty of interventional radiology that utilizes imaging, including X-ray, CT, ultrasound, MRI and PET, to perform minimally invasive procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Using state-of-the-art equipment, our radiologists can visualize abnormalities using catheters and needles to pinpoint cancer locations throughout the body. Nearly all procedures are performed without major incisions, which allows patients to go home either the day of the procedure or the following day. By treatments to the exact site of the tumor, many uncomfortable side effects of cancer treatments, like hair loss and nausea, are avoided.
MemorialCare is proud to provide the highest quality, comprehensive cancer care for adults and children of all ages. Our cancer centers are devoted to improving the lives of residents in Los Angeles County and Orange County, California and beyond.
