Dr. McKanders recently moved to California from Washington DC, fulfilling a lifelong dream of living on the West Coast.
She is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine in a caring and compassionate manner. After practicing for seven years, she has acquired the skills and knowledge to diagnose and treat a variety of gynecological issues utilizing medical and surgical interventions.
Dr. McKanders has a special interest in integrating non-traditional, alternative therapies with traditional, evidence-based medicine. She also has a special love of the practice of obstetrics. It is always a pleasure and an honor to care for expectant mothers and their new babies. She is dedicated to developing a lifelong relationship with her patients from early adolescence to menopause.
Dr. McKanders completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan where she received a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. After graduating from U of M, she attended Northwestern University Medical School. After completing her medical education, she completed her internship at NYU Downtown Hospital in 2001. She was proud to serve as a first responder in the World Trade Center tragedy. Dr. McKanders then went on to complete her residency at the Case Western Metrohealth Cleveland Clinic residency program in obstetrics and gynecology. From there she went to Washington DC where she was affiliated with Sibley Memorial and Georgetown University Hospitals as an obstetrician and gynecologist in one of the largest specialty practices in Washington DC.
