Dr. Eleanor Hawkins grew up outside of Rochester, New York. She first fell in love with California when she moved out west to earn her bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She then moved back to Upstate New York to study medicine at Albany Medical College, also earning a distinction in bioethics. Here she fell in love with obstetrics and gynecology (as well as her husband, who conveniently is from Southern California) Early on Dr. Hawkins recognized her love for the field of women’s health. She is energetic and dedicated to her patients and she simply could not imagine doing anything else.
She remained in New York to complete her residency training at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, where she served as academic chief resident and received honors in research and in minimally invasive gynecology. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecology at Montefiore Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Here she received advanced training in laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and robotic surgery and her research interests focused on the gynecologic impact of renal disease and atypical endometriosis.
Dr. Hawkins, her husband and young son are thrilled to have finally returned to sunny California. Outside the office Dr. Hawkins enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and skiing.
