Dr. Michalik is a health-sciences track associate clinical professor of pediatrics at University of California at Irvine School of Medicine and the associate program director for the pediatric residency from which he has received several teaching awards.
He received his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, completed his pediatric residency at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, and his fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the Columbia University Medical Center. He is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, and is certified as an HIV specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
He is actively engaged in clinical research projects involving viral infections (Rotavirus, Varicella Zoster virus, and HIV), Kawasaki disease, infectious diseases in ancient mummies and Amazonian tribes, and also works with several medical trainees on infection-related research topics.
During his free time, he enjoys backpacking, playing softball, running, and surfing.
