Lisa D. Curcio, MD

Dr. Lisa Curcio is a breast care specialist and surgeon. In August of 2005, she founded Advanced Breast Care Specialists of Orange County, dedicated to serving patients in all aspects of breast care and breast cancer.

South Orange County’s only female surgical oncologist, Dr. Curcio has devoted her life’s work to the education, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Lisa Curcio fought her own battle with breast cancer at age 37, so she offers her own unique perspective of experiencing the disease first hand. Her practice is focused on treating the woman as a whole. While Dr. Curcio offers the latest medical treatments in breast care, she understands the emotional issues of a breast disease or cancer diagnosis. Patients can seek personal consultations, support groups or second opinions through her practice.

Prior to starting Advanced Breast Care Specialists, Dr. Curcio was a general and oncologic surgeon at Mission Hospital from 2001–2005 and was Chief of Surgical Oncology at Keesler Medical Center from 1997–2001. She is a current member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Curcio received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Scranton and an M.D. from George Washington University Medical School in Washington D.C. She is a cancer liaison at Mission Hospital Medical Center, serves as their tumor board chairperson and is a member of the hospital’s cancer committee.

In 2003 and 2004, Dr. Curcio served as the Program Director for the Orange County Komen Foundation and is still an active member of the organization’s Speakers Bureau.

She belongs to numerous professional societies and has written dozens of articles and research projects on a variety of cancer and breast care issues. Dr. Curcio is a dynamic speaker and she has addressed a variety of professional and community groups over her twenty-year career.
